3 Ways To Get A Good Quote From Movers

If you are moving, you may not want or be able to do the work of packing and moving everything. In that case, you need to hire a moving company to come and do the work for you. Before you do that, you need to make sure that you get some quotes from various moving companies. The reason to get quotes is so that you can get the best price on your move. You should typically get two or three quotes. That number will give you enough quotes to compare. If you get too many quotes, it starts to get hard to choose which works best because you have too many choices available to you. What are some things that you should do to get a good quote?

In-Home Quote

One of the things that you should do is to have the moving company come to your house to look at everything. You are better off getting a quote from a company that has actually laid eyes on your house because they are going to have an idea of what they are going to need to move. It's one thing for you to tell the moving company that you have an antique china cabinet that has certain dimensions. It is a very different thing for the mover to come to your house and see the cabinet and measure it themselves.

Quote Lifetime

You should ask the person giving you the quote what the lifetime of the quote is. If you are moving in a month, you need to know that the quote that you are given is still going to be good in a month. Getting a good quote for a move is great, but finding out that it is only good for two weeks isn't as good if your move is in a month. So, just check with the movers to see how long the quote is viable for.

Ask About Extra Fees

Extra fees might not show up on the quote, so make sure that you ask about them. Those fees can include paying for very heavy things, oddly shaped things, or antique furniture. You don't want to get surprised with extra fees when you are doing the final payment, so make sure to ask about them before you commit to that mover.

If you are getting ready to move, you may want to have a moving company do all the hard work for you. Get some quotes from residential moving companies and get the help you need.
